Hello world!
I’m just about to sort my bags out and leave Pattaya. What a weird place. I have had so many moments in my life where my parents said “do you not remember in Pattaya when-” and obviously I do not. I lived here when I was two. Obviously I don’t remember what I was doing. That means this brief detour to Pattaya hasn’t done much for me in terms of reconnecting with family history or whatever. I’ve just came here and learned what this city really is, and I don’t like it. The entire population is older British folk, and it makes sense why my dad moved here twenty-ish years ago. There’s loads of bars and nothing much else. This place is actually called the prostitution capital of Thailand, so I cannot fathom why my parents thought it’d be smart to bring three kids here. This is such a rant. I think this place is catered to old, British guys who just want to chase after far-too-young girls and spend all their money. As I already said, I don’t like it. Moving on.
On the other hand, I had a trip to Khao Kheow Open Zoo to see Moo Deng! Obviously Moo Deng was great and very cute, but the zoo itself was insanely good. It was really big, really cheap, and I got to drive a golf cart around. It looked as though most of the animals were taken care of really well, and they had such a huge variety of them too. I had a great time.
I’m off to Bangkok for a day, then all the way up to the far north in Chiang Mai. Bangkok I think is pretty fun. I enjoy the chaos, and there’s a lot to do, even if most of that is going out and getting drunk. There’s still a lot of variety though. It feels, as you’d expect, very international. I’m also excited for Chiang Mai, because it’s primarily backpacker focused, so I’ll fit right in with people like me. It will be fun and very cheap. I don’t know where to go after that to be honest. Maybe Bangkok for another week, then down to Phuket? Who knows.
Anyway, I did want to mention something I was thinking of yesterday afternoon, and it was about music. Oh my god! There’s so much good music recently! I realised that the playlist I make for my favourite releases of the year is almost the same length as my other yearly playlists, and it’s only May! How crazy. Just so much good stuff coming out recently and I’m glad I constantly seek out new music, rather than get comfortable with the same old stuff. Below is some of the new music I really like, so listen if you are bored. Thanks for reading!
