Digital Journal Entry
I sit writing at my local pub and feel amazing. I just feel like a happy person today.
I spent a few hours at work today, at a sustainability meeting. As a 2000 person music venue, we have a responsibility to do sustainable things and practices, so it feels good to contribute. I shared a few ideas I had, and shared my charity idea. I want to get a writing challenge started that will be sold in our venue, and all proceeds go to Arts Emergency. It’s something I’m super passionate about, because my biggest passion in the world is art, and it’s nice to properly organise a company event that could impact lots of people. We discussed it at length, going into specifics bits that do and don’t work. I got great feedback, and I then created the poster that I will be sharing with everyone soon. It was a good meeting, and I feel good that I could possibly be making a real change. It’s always nice to give back!
After that I just went to the pub and finished an article I started a while ago. I quite enjoy it! It’s about gaming and the marketing surrounding the industry. I find games such an interesting topic, because in a lot of ways they are still an infancy stage. There’s so much to learn from how the industry handles things, and even high-level executives are still figuring things out. I’m no expert obviously, but I have thoughts and feelings on the matter. Go read the article after this perhaps?
Besides all that, I’m in a pretty good spot. I’ve got quite a few days off over the next few weeks as gig season is over, but I can focus myself on writing and try to finish some of the books I started and never finished. I was about halfway through “The Roads To Sata” by Alan Booth which is about a man who walks from the northern-most point of Japan all the way to the southern-most point. It’s a great read involving lots of small interactions, personal struggles and interesting pieces of knowledge around Japanese culture. I also love traveling so it’s a perfect book for me.
Thanks for reading!
