Digital Journal Entry
Hello world!
I have returned after a two month absence! Many things have happened and I’ve been so busy sorting myself out that I genuinely forgot to update my journal for a short while. I’m back now though, and trying to get more and more back into writing every day. It’s going well.
I went to Primavera at the start of June and had a great time. I met lots of people and enjoyed the city for a few weeks. Then I went to London, where I got the news that my visa for Japan was getting delayed to an unknown date, which was very upsetting. I kept my head up though, and I hunkered down a bit in London. I got a full-time job that pays super well, and I got an apartment that is incredibly cheap. I actually got my first paycheck yesterday and it was fantastic. My plan right now is to wait for my visa then continue onto Japan, but in the mean time I will work as much as humanly possible and make lots of money for my move. I think everything is fitting into place, which is great.
I’ve also been writing quite a bit when I can, which includes a novel! I’ve passed 15 thousand words and I’m still super interested in the idea. Something I learned from Stephen King was to try not to have much time away from the book, because then the ideas start becoming a bit foreign to you. I have these characters from my book in my head 24/7 and I’m always thinking about where they are going and what they want. It means I can pretty much always hop into the manuscript and write a bit more. It’s fun. I think the book is incredibly rough with some of the writing, but the structure I’m employing is very interesting and I’m constantly aware of character arcs and motives etc. It’s going well overall.
I don’t know what else to add? I definitely can add a lot more because it’s been a while but I want to keep these brief so I can focus on my novel. Basically, I’ve had some good travels and now I’m living in a new city, and I’m ready for the next half of the year. My mental health is all over the place because of how isolated this whole thing is, but I’m still keeping my head up. Life goes on and I’m very excited to see what’s next.
Thanks for reading!
